Vegetarian Diet Weight Loss

Relationship between weight loss and a vegetarian diet

vegetarian diet

The vegetarian diet is green and it's organic every day!
Basically, it seems more like a choice, a way of life, a philosophy ... But it is also a diet that is used to lose weight.

Is this diet your philosophy or is it your latest slimming program?

The vegetarian diet is not new. In fact, since ancient times, some Greek philosophers have been going green!

As you have understood, becoming a vegetarian is not a dietary habit whose primary goal is to lose weight, even though a vegetarian diet will obviously make you lose weight and help you keep your figure.

A Focus on Ovo-Lacto Vegetarian Diet

A vegetarian diet is above all a philosophy that consists of sparing animal meat by eating differently: without eating meat or fish.

The most common vegetarian diet, called ovo-lacto vegetarianism, is based on the consumption of fruit and vegetables (rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals) and also includes eggs and skimmed dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and fresh cheese.

It includes copious portions of wholemeal bread, cereals, and pasta, moderate consumption of legumes (plants whose fruit is contained in a pod), nuts, or seeds. Egg yolk should be used rarely.

You should, therefore, avoid eating foods high in saturated fat and cholesterol such as meats: beef, lamb, pork, chicken, deli meats and fish and shellfish.

Coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages provide some nutrients but divert essential nutrients. The vegetarian diet consists mainly of drinking water!

Be careful not to confuse this with the vegan diet, which differs from the vegetarian diet because it excludes eggs, dairy products, and all animal products (except honey).

A well-balanced vegetarian diet should combine in the same meal:

Healthy vegetarian diet

- Either cereals and legumes

- Either legumes and oil and nuts, or

- Or a cereal food cooked with a dairy product (e.g. semolina or rice pudding, pasta with cheese, etc.).

- Or a cereal food cooked with an egg (or even associated with fish or shellfish for some vegetarians who allow themselves fish).
It is also necessary to take care to consume :
- At least 5 fruits and vegetables per day

- 3 dairy products

- 3 tablespoons per day of oils rich in good fatty acids (olive oil, rapeseed oil, soybean oil, walnut oil, etc.) or a balanced diet oil blend.

There are of course several variants of the vegetarian diet, some only allow vegetables and eggs (ovo-vegetarianism), others only allow vegetables, milk, and dairy products (lacto-vegetarianism) others prohibit meat, eggs, and dairy products but allow fish (peso-vegetarianism), others only allow vegetables and poultry (poly-vegetarianism) ...
So, shall we get started?

Benefits of a Vegetarian Diet

Of course, fruits and vegetables are high in fiber and nutrients! Vegetable foods only provide good things for your body, so we say yes to green!

Eliminating meat reduces the intake of animal fats, which can be bad fats. This prevents the blood level of bad cholesterol from rising and helps prevent cardiovascular disease.

As a result, the vegetarian diet ensures less hypertension, osteoporosis, and type 2 diabetes. Of course, this low-calorie diet can help you lose weight or stabilize it.

disadvantages of a vegetarian diet

Unbalanced vegetarian diets

Goodbye cholesterol-laden meats and tasty little bites, bad for our health!

Bad? Not so bad, during the vegetarian diet there is a need to monitor the protein intake at each meal. The risk of deficiencies is always present when we eliminate from our diet products rich in protein, iron, or calcium ... present in meats.

Vegetables and fruit also mean a new way of cooking, so it's up to you to review the way you prepare your dishes.

Moreover, even if we hear more and more about new trendy places that offer only organic and good food, it is still difficult to follow this diet externally.

Typical vegetarian diet day!

A vegetarian inside you?

The vegetarian diet is intended for people who have made the choice not to eat meat according to their moral convictions.

It is also intended for all those who want to adopt a certain lifestyle and those who want to get back in shape through organic and green!
